(ERLANGER, Ky.) – What does it take to thrive for 75 years in the jewelry industry? As Jewel-Craft Inc. celebrates this milestone, they give credit to an enduring passion for jewelry, their loyal customers and faithful employees.

In 1947, Earl Wesdorp founded Jewel-Craft Inc. in his small garage attic. He didn’t start with much more than a pinch of money, some old tools and plenty of zeal for serving his customers. In 1950, Earl’s son Bob and his wife Dot jumped on board, solidifying the foundation of the business. Their sons, Gary and Benet, later took over, successfully overseeing the expansion of Jewel-Craft throughout the U.S., as well as into other countries. Today, the third generation of the Wesdorp family continues the Jewel-Craft family legacy.

Through the years, the company has grown and flourished. In that time, one thing has remained true. The folks at Jewel-Craft Inc. love jewelry. Every single day, the Jewel-Craft team adores honoring, persevering and sharing the craft of jewelry. This is shown through the many high-quality services they offer, including manufacturing, appraisals, custom design, laser engraving, trade work and more.

They’ve even had the privilege of receiving three RJO Vendor of the Year awards in 2009, 2019 and 2021.

As Jewel-Craft Inc. looks back over the past 75 years, they’re extremely grateful for all the people who’ve supported them. Steadfast partners and devoted employees have helped make Jewel-Craft Inc. what it is today. Jewel-Craft Inc. is honored to have such dedicated customers who continually work with them and share their soft spot for jewelry. They’re also extremely humbled by their hard working “pit crew” of wonderful employees, who’ve always focused on making Jewel-Craft’s services remain second-to-none in the industry.

After reaching this incredible achievement, Walker Wesdorp, Senior Director of Information, reflected on the significance of this event.

“Jewel-Craft has been around for so long we’re like a familiar old friend in the industry. We don’t anticipate it going anywhere anytime soon and that’s because of the people who work here. We have a lot of new faces, but our core employees have always set the tone for sharing a passion for jewelry and keeping the legacy of the family business strong.”

Jewel-Craft Inc. is excited for the future. They know one thing will remain constant, which is carrying on the joy of jewelry for another 75 years and beyond.

The Story Behind the Stone: Metal Mashup

Reading Time: 6 minutes I have to confess I just learned about electrum when this topic crawled up on my radar. We love the wide range of jewelry metals today that give consumers tremendous options for creating the exact piece of their dreams. Metal alloys are some of the more exciting variations for imaginative jewelry designers to work with. These options better reflect the tastes of a client and help them to personalize their jewelry, making it truly unique to them. Natural Alloy One topic catching my eye at the moment is a rare and naturally occurring metal alloy – electrum. This word, electrum may be uncommon to modern society, but it’s a Latin word derived from the Greek electron mentioned in the Odyssey referring to a metallic substance consisting of gold alloyed with silver. Electrum was usually called white gold in antiquity. But more accurately it was described as pale gold since ...
