JIS Spring wraps with record attendance

(NORWALK, Conn.)JIS Spring, a premier event to restock and reconnect with the industry for the spring and summer selling seasons, successfully wrapped with record-breaking increased attendance of over 26% from the previous year. The show took place March 13-15, 2022 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami Beach, FL and featured 322 exhibitors spanning four pavilions with a wide assortment of offerings including bridal, diamond and classic fine jewelry as well as gold jewelry and chains, pearl jewelry, watches, loose diamonds, gemstones, silver and fashion jewelry, antique and estate, equipment and supplies, accessories and more.

“The excitement and demand for in-person product sourcing by our buyers was palpable. JIS is thrilled with the growth in overall attendance, especially with our international attendees. Since our March 2021 show we had an 81% increase from Latin America, over 65% increase from the Caribbean and JIS doubled the attendance from Canada. Onsite registration also increased by 33% with domestic attendees primarily arriving from Florida, New York, Texas, California and Michigan,” says Lauren van Rensburg, JIS Marketing Director. “Attendees reported positive feedback stating JIS Spring was an ‘impressive and productive show’ with a great selection of products and exhibitors – with plenty of cash and carry options.”

Sara McDonough, new JIS Event Director

In addition to record attendance, JIS is pleased to announce Sara McDonough, formerly the JIS Platinum Club and Special Events Director, has been named Event Director for JIS, replacing Jordan Tuchband who has been promoted to Group Vice President and will oversee RX-US’s Security, Transportation, Natural Disaster, and Card Not Present brands.

“I am thrilled to be recognized by the JIS community and to have the opportunity to lead our accomplished team as we continue to cultivate our partnerships with our exhibitors, vendors and buyers,” said McDonough. “The jewelry industry has continued to report businesses are thriving and the need for restocking and product purchasing is critical, all evident from post-show survey responses. We doubled the show floor size to 64,216 square feet since last year and successfully introduced a new Turkish Pavilion and upscale Product Showcase Lounge, in addition to our other pavilions, which enhanced the buying experience, fostered product discovery, and drove business for our customers.”

Upcoming JIS shows include JIS Fall: September 30 – October 3, 2022, at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami Beach, FL; and JIS Delivery – San Diego: September 18 – 19, 2022, at the San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, CA. Registration will open soon.

“Combining our powerful relationships with new, forward-thinking features is the secret sauce for making our world class shows even more successful for the foreseeable future,” said McDonough. “With the jewelry industry bouncing back more rapidly than others, JIS will continue to stay in the forefront as the best marketplace for the industry.”

The Story Behind the Stone: Metal Mashup

Reading Time: 6 minutes I have to confess I just learned about electrum when this topic crawled up on my radar. We love the wide range of jewelry metals today that give consumers tremendous options for creating the exact piece of their dreams. Metal alloys are some of the more exciting variations for imaginative jewelry designers to work with.
