Plumb Club releases latest podcast – The Power of a Strong Logo

Reading Time: 3 minutes

(NEW YORK) – Today, more than ever, it’s imperative to break through the visual and messaging clutter and immediately capture the attention of the retail customer. This all starts with the one item that is often the very first branding element a potential customer will encounter – the store’s logo.

Too often a retailer may not realize the power of color, type-font, and imagery in this foundational feature. A logo sets the tone for a retailer, conveys unspoken meaning, and can create differentiation from other stores in the area. Further, proper and repetitive use of a logo can reinforce and remind a consumer of a retailer’s message. The Plumb Club’s Podcast for August helps retailers gain valuable insight into the creation or evolution of a logo and provides tips on how and where it can be used to benefit a store’s positioning.

The Power of a Strong Logo: A customer’s physical and pleasing shopping experience always starts with good design. One of the first pieces of design your customer will come into contact with is your logo. That’s why it’s important to ensure that your logo conveys a store message and sets you apart from competition. In this podcast, Leslie McGwire, ASID Allied, discusses some iconic brand logos and what makes them stand out. Further, she provides insights into the creation of a meaningful store logo, as well as how and where you can place that logo to reinforce your message, both within your store and when a customer is elsewhere. McGwire is a designer who has worked in the spa, salon and jewelry retail environments for 35 years and has won over 27 national design awards for her work.

The Plumb Club podcasts, which are added monthly, provide strategies, knowledge and immediately actionable steps from industry leaders, that help retailers across a variety of business areas. The Story Behind the Stone: Metal Mashup

Reading Time: 6 minutes I have to confess I just learned about electrum when this topic crawled up on my radar. We love the wide range of jewelry metals today that give consumers tremendous options for creating the exact piece of their dreams. Metal alloys are some of the more exciting variations for imaginative jewelry designers to work with. These options better reflect the tastes of a client and help them to personalize their jewelry, making it truly unique to them. Natural Alloy One topic catching my eye at the moment is a rare and naturally occurring metal alloy – electrum. This word, electrum may be uncommon to modern society, but it’s a Latin word derived from the Greek electron mentioned in the Odyssey referring to a metallic substance consisting of gold alloyed with silver. Electrum was usually called white gold in antiquity. But more accurately it was described as pale gold since ...
