(TROY, Mich.) – The Jewelry Symposium (TJS), the jewelry industry’s annual international event dedicated specifically to the advancement of jewelry manufacturing technology, will highlight new jewelry technologies and sustainability as core topics for this year’s edition, to be held at the Detroit Marriott Troy from May 17 to May 20, 2025. In addition to presentations on the symposium’s normal focus on metallurgy and jewelry craftsmanship, esteemed TJS speakers are also highlighting sustainable sourcing of traceable gemstones, as well as new technologies such as additive manufacturing and the use of AI in design and production.
“We had an unprecedented number of proposals and abstracts for 2025, and we are delighted that many of our respected presenters will be focusing on timely and important issues like sustainability and technology,” says Linus Drogs, TJS Chairman of the Board. “We are grateful to the experts who will be sharing the latest information on CAD, AI, and additive manufacturing (3-D printing), as well as the group of professionals focused on sustainability related to a responsible supply chain and the tracing of colored gemstones.”
Respected industry experts from all around the world will offer cutting-edge information to an audience of bench jewelers, designers, manufacturers, students, retailers, and the press. Scott Bradford of Gesswein will present CAD techniques and software for enhancing jewelry design and consultant Anne Miller will focus on generative AI, while Joseph Strauss of HJE Company, Inc. will discuss advances in additive manufacturing (sinter-based 3-D printing). On the sustainability and ethical sourcing front, Eric Braunwart of Columbia Gem House and Consultant Frank Cooper will each be looking at the traceability of colored gemstones. Sharing such detailed analysis and expertise is what TJS is all about. The open exchange of information, ideas, and skill sets acts as a catalyst for the advancement of jewelry manufacturing technology worldwide.
