TREASURES

After a very successful 2024 event under the theme Royal Gems & Jewellery, this exciting new edition will offer delegates two full days of keynote addresses and discussion panels conducted by renowned experts and research fellows in the fields of jewelry, gemology, art history, and jewelry conservation from world-class museums, universities and institutes where royal and imperial crowns, diamond tiaras, and gem-set hat or hair jewels are precious protagonists. Delegates will have exclusive access at all times to the Portuguese Royal Collections, which will be closed to the public during the proceedings.

In memory of the second centenary of the death of Portugal’s king Dom João (John) VI of the Braganza Dynasty (†1826), the colloquium will feature a special presentation of the Royal Crown – on display at the museum – that was made, in Brazil, on the occasion of his accession to the throne of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves in 1818. The colloquium looks forward to welcoming H.H. the Lady Infanta D. Maria Francisca de Bragança, Duchess of Coimbra, of the Portuguese Royal House of Bragança, who will honor the participants with her presence.

Treasures Gem & Jewellery Tours

There are only a few seats left for the pre-colloquium gems-and-jewelry tour on November 12. The post-colloquium tour on November 15 is sold out. Grab your seats as soon as possible to make your experience even more memorable. The tour will be guided by Rui Galopim de Carvalho, who will take his guests to three museums of high interest to gemologists and jewelry aficionados: Museu de São Roque, Museu do Oriente, and the renovated Museu Calouste Gulbenkian.

The colloquium will be conducted in English.
