• CIBJO issued an urgent warning regarding fraudulent individuals, specifically naming Bruce Ikemezu and the website cibjo-as.org, who are falsely claiming affiliation to trade gold and financial instruments.

• As a non-profit association, CIBJO clarified that it does not trade in commercial products, the second-hand gold market, or financial instruments like gold futures.

• The organization has filed formal criminal complaints with law enforcement and urges industry members to conduct due diligence and verify credentials through the official CIBJO secretariat.

The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) is issuing an urgent warning about individuals claiming to represent CIBJO or bodies directly affiliated with it, and offering products and/or financial instruments endorsed by CIBJO.

The World Jewellery Confederation Industry Alert

The existence of such claims was brought to CIBJO’s attention on May 24, 2026, and they are similar to other claims reported to us in January of this year, when a purported Indian/Japanese group asserted that it was a gold-trading operation affiliated with CIBJO. This time, a website domain named cibjo-as.org has been registered, and a person who identifies himself as Bruce Ikemezu claims to be associated with it.

As a non-profit representative association, CIBJO does not trade in any commercial products, the second-hand gold market, nor financial instruments such as gold futures. CIBJO has no connection to “cibjo-as.org” or Bruce Ikemezu. Any persons making claims in CIBJO’s name are not authorized to do so and may be committing a criminal act.

CIBJO has already filed formal complaints about such fraudulent claims with law enforcement authorities in several countries.

CIBJO urges all industry members to exercise extreme caution when approached with business offers that seem out of the ordinary, and to always conduct proper due diligence before making a financial decision.

If you are approached by individuals claiming to be CIBJO representatives, whom you do not recognize or who are not identified on the CIBJO website (www.cibjo.org), CIBJO recommends that you verify their credentials by contacting the CIBJO Secretariat at cibjo@cibjo.org.
