“JIS Fall 2026 was one of the strongest shows in the event’s history, with record-breaking attendance and incredible energy across the show floor,” said Sara McDonough, Event Director of JIS. “It brought the jewelry community together for a few exciting days of sourcing, discovery and connection. The conversations and connections made here will continue well beyond the show.”

The show’s “Spark Holiday Success” theme came to life through experiences designed to give attendees fresh ideas for their businesses. At the gift-wrapping demonstration, retailers picked up techniques they could bring back to their stores. The Gem Color Forecast invited attendees to predict the color they expect to shine in the coming year, while Puppies and Personalization offered a playful break from the show floor.

Connections continued after show hours at the opening-night Welcome Reception and JIS Unwrapped, a Saturday evening gathering with drinks and a photo opportunity. Together with the show floor activations, these events gave buyers and exhibitors more ways to meet, exchange ideas and celebrate the industry in Miami Beach.

Elongated Diamond Shapes Are Taking Over Jewelry

Reading Time: 9 minutes Key takeaways • Elongated diamond shapes like ovals, marquise, pears, baguettes, cushions, and radiants are dominating consumer demand and shifting retailer buying patterns away from traditional round cuts. • These shapes provide strong finger coverage and create the optical illusion of a larger stone face-up compared to round diamonds of the same carat weight. • The trend is significantly accelerated by the accessibility of lab-created diamonds, allowing buyers to select larger proportions and higher carat weights. For decades, the round brilliant diamond remained the undisputed leader of jewelry. It was the traditional standard for engagement rings, bridal jewelry, and many fine jewelry collections, prized for its timelessness and unmatched brilliance. But over the last several years, the market has undergone a dramatic transformation. Today, elongated diamond cuts, particularly oval, marquise, pear, baguette, and elongated cushion and radiant c...

I just got home from the Atlanta Jewelry Show, and thought I’d share some thoughts and discoveries with everyone from the show. Here’s what you missed if you haven’t been to a trade show in a while. First and foremost… They are fun! The really cool thing about a trade show is the interaction with your longtime friends and business associates. I’ve got friends in this business that I’ve known for 43 years. Many of those friends I’ve only seen face-to-face 43 times – always at a trade show . A jewelry trade show is a hands-on experience. Most days I’m at the point that I don’t want to look at another piece of jewelry on a phone or computer screen. I don’t care how many pics you take, and how many angles you shoot it from, you never really capture the essence of the piece. Being real jewelers , we know the only way to evaluate, and assess, a piece’s true quality and workmanship is to hold it in our hands. A jewelry trade show is a full blown, hands-on, experience. We’ve all bought jew...
