Worldwide, with 55+ events and initiatives, World Watch Day brings together watch enthusiasts, brands, collectors, and professionals to celebrate the art of watchmaking.

Following the success of its inaugural edition, which reached more than six million people worldwide, World Watch Day returns on October 10, 2026, for a second international celebration of watchmaking culture, craftsmanship and the passing on of knowledge and skills.

Under the theme “Time as Living Heritage”, the 2026 edition will explore how horological heritage continues to evolve through craftsmanship, knowledge and creativity, and how it is passed on. World Watch Day brings together museums, watchmakers, manufacturers, schools, cultural institutions, collectors, media, and enthusiasts around a common ambition: to celebrate the cultural, technical, scientific, and artistic dimensions of watchmaking and share them with the widest possible audience.

Taking place across several countries, the 2026 program will include exhibitions, talks, workshops, educational initiatives, museum activities, artistic commissions and digital projects. Together, they reflect the many ways watchmaking heritage is preserved, reinterpreted, and passed on.

At 10:10 on World Watch Day, watch lovers, brands, museums, media, retailers, clubs, and institutions worldwide are invited to share a wrist shot and encourage their communities to join in using the #WorldWatchDay hashtag.

Elongated Diamond Shapes Are Taking Over Jewelry

Reading Time: 9 minutes Key takeaways • Elongated diamond shapes like ovals, marquise, pears, baguettes, cushions, and radiants are dominating consumer demand and shifting retailer buying patterns away from traditional round cuts. • These shapes provide strong finger coverage and create the optical illusion of a larger stone face-up compared to round diamonds of the same carat weight. • The trend is significantly accelerated by the accessibility of lab-created diamonds, allowing buyers to select larger proportions and higher carat weights. For decades, the round brilliant diamond remained the undisputed leader of jewelry. It was the traditional standard for engagement rings, bridal jewelry, and many fine jewelry collections, prized for its timelessness and unmatched brilliance. But over the last several years, the market has undergone a dramatic transformation. Today, elongated diamond cuts, particularly oval, marquise, pear, baguette, and elongated cushion and radiant c...

Most days I’m at the point that I don’t want to look at another piece of jewelry on a phone or computer screen. I don’t care how many pics you take, and how many angles you shoot it from, you never really capture the essence of the piece. Being real jewelers , we know the only way to evaluate, and assess, a piece’s true quality and workmanship is to hold it in our hands. A jewelry trade show is a full blown, hands-on, experience. We’ve all bought jew...
