(LAS VEGAS, NV) – The American Gem Society (AGS) annual recertification exam is now open to all AGS designees and credentialed members.

Annual recertification is a cornerstone of AGS membership, distinguishing Society members as professionals who maintain the most current knowledge of gemology, jewelry industry practices, and ethics. All active designees and credentialed members who earned their credential before December 1, 2025, are required to complete the exam.
The annual recertification process is a direct measure of professional commitment and is confirmation that a credentialed member’s knowledge remains current, their ethics remain intact, and the trust clients place in them is earned.
“In an industry that continues to evolve across gemological science, grading standards, and consumer expectations, staying current is not optional for professionals who take their craft seriously. The recertification exam reflects that standard,” said Katherine Bodoh, RJ, CEO of the American Gem Society. “Recertification is what sets an AGS credential apart as a true mark of professional excellence. Each year, our members demonstrate their dedication to the consumers they serve and to the integrity of this industry. We are proud to support that commitment.”
The deadline to complete the 2026 recertification exam is September 22, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. Members who do not complete the exam by the deadline may be subject to non-renewal of their credential. For questions, members may contact AGS at membership@ags.org or visit americangemsociety.org/2026-recertification.
