A NEW EXPRESSION

In September 2026, ALTO unveils its new timepiece: ART 02.

Where ART 01 asserted a concept, ART 02 distills its quintessence.

More essential and more universal, it embodies the highest expression of the codes the maison has developed since 2024.

A manifesto gave birth to a language.

From that language, a signature now emerges.

With this horological achievement, ART 02 marks ALTO’s entry into a new era.

ART 02 opens new horizons for the maison and inaugurates its first permanent collection.

THE DESIGN OF ART 02

After a decade shaping watch design at Cartier, Raphaël Abeillon joined ALTO as Creative Director in September 2024, opening a new chapter in the maison’s development.

Faithful to the architectural principles established by ART 01, he continued ALTO’s pursuit of balance, creating a timepiece with more restrained proportions—more universal, more essential.

Conceived as an indivisible architecture, ART 02 led to the development of a new manufacture movement. The A02 caliber was designed specifically to complement the lines of its case, extending the approach first established with the A01 caliber for ART 01. Case and movement are thus conceived as one, born from the same creative vision, where mechanics exist entirely in service of the aesthetic intent.

An all-new integrated bracelet accompanies this new expression. Designed exclusively for ART 02, it naturally extends the lines of the sapphire crystal and the case’s design language, developing a formal identity unique to the maison. Its construction prioritizes ergonomics and wearing comfort without ever compromising the architectural tension that defines every ALTO creation.

The dial is complemented by a flange integrated directly into the case. It incorporates the hour markers and a discreet minute track, providing a more intuitive reading of time.

The hands, refined and skeletonized, contribute to this constant pursuit of balance between precision, visual lightness and legibility.

In a commitment to absolute coherence, the case, bracelet and movement plate are all crafted in Grade 5 titanium. The maison’s signature material, it combines lightness, strength and exceptional wearing comfort.

New case. New bracelet. New movement. ART 02 is the culmination of two years of development and embodies a new milestone in the evolution of ALTO’s horological language.

THE CALIBER

Caliber A02 — manufacture

Developed and manufactured in collaboration with Cercle des Horlogers, the A02 caliber was created exclusively for ART 02.

This self-winding mechanical movement is equipped with a microrotor and beats at a frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour).

The A02 caliber delivers a 50-hour power reserve. Its construction features a Grade 5 titanium plate, combined with satin-finished brass bridges with polished bevels. The micro-rotor, crafted from rhodium-plated Reconit® 18, features microblasted, circular-brushed, and engraved surfaces.

Like every creation from the maison, the seconds hand rotates counterclockwise. This technical signature, unique to ALTO, contributes to the watch’s distinctive identity.

A one-piece sapphire caseback, directly screwed to the case, reveals the entire movement while showcasing its architecture and refined finishing.

THE INTEGRATED BRACELET – THE PURSUIT OF COMFORT

With ART 02, ALTO unveils the first metal bracelet in its history. Developed entirely in Grade 5 titanium and designed exclusively for this model, it represents a new expression of the maison’s horological language and forms an integral part of its identity.

The case, bracelet and clasp are conceived as a single, coherent architecture.

Like the case itself, each link is composed of multiple satin-brushed surfaces, each finished in a different direction to interact with the light. This interplay creates a remarkable sense of brilliance without any polished surfaces, giving the bracelet a visual identity unlike any other.

The slender profile of each link, their articulation, the progressive taper across four links, and the precisely calibrated spacing between them have all been meticulously engineered to provide exceptional freedom of movement. This careful construction lets the bracelet follow the wrist naturally while maintaining constant architectural tension, with every link contributing equally to wearing comfort and overall visual balance.

The ALTO bracelet is fitted with a double-folding clasp incorporating a 4 mm on-the-fly micro-adjustment system, evenly distributed on either side of the clasp for enhanced day-to-day comfort.

It also features an integrated quick-release system. Without the need for tools, the bracelet can be exchanged in seconds for a leather or rubber strap, allowing ART 02 to adopt different expressions while preserving the integrity of its design.

NRF Chief Economist weighs in on inflation and its impact on retail

(WASHINGTON) – Inflation is at a 40-year high but isn’t hitting all consumers as hard as top-line numbers might suggest, National Retail Federation (NRF) Chief Economist Jack Kleinhenz said yesterday. Nonetheless, consumer worries about rising prices could become self-fulfilling if workers demand higher wages to compensate and will play a role in the Federal Reserve’s efforts to bring inflation under control. “After decades of relatively low levels, inflation is on everyone’s mind and has been making consumers and businesses miserable as prices have picked up dramatically over the past year,” Kleinhenz said. “However you measure it, inflation has become a powerful force and plays a key role in the nation’s economic outlook.” “While actual price gains are expected to slow down in the coming months as they lap relatively high readings from the year before, the Fed is concerned about the risk of an unwanted jump in inflation expectations,” Kleinhenz said. “If consumers expect rampant i...

The Retailer’s Perspective: It’s Showtime (Again)!

I just got home from the Atlanta Jewelry Show, and thought I’d share some thoughts and discoveries with everyone from the show. Here’s what you missed if you haven’t been to a trade show in a while. First and foremost… They are fun! The really cool thing about a trade show is the interaction with your longtime friends and business associates. I’ve got friends in this business that I’ve known for 43 years. Many of those friends I’ve only seen face-to-face 43 times – always at a trade show . A jewelry trade show is a hands-on experience. Most days I’m at the point that I don’t want to look at another piece of jewelry on a phone or computer screen. I don’t care how many pics you take, and how many angles you shoot it from, you never really capture the essence of the piece. Being real jewelers , we know the only way to evaluate, and assess, a piece’s true quality and workmanship is to hold it in our hands. A jewelry trade show is a full blown, hands-on, experience. We’ve all bought jew...
