(SHELTON, CONNECTICUT) – The Edge, the jewelry store management platform used by thousands of independent jewelry retailers across North America, has awarded two $1,500 scholarships through the 24 Karat Club of the Southeastern United States (SEUS) to Hannah Bing of Ford, Gittings & Kane Jewelers in Rome, Georgia, and Dan Linihan of Worthmore Jewelers in Atlanta, Georgia.

The scholarship recipients were recognized at the 24 Karat Club of the Southeastern United States’ 50th Annual Banquet, held in conjunction with the Fall Atlanta Jewelry Show. The awards support students and early-career professionals pursuing careers in the jewelry trade, including gemology, bench work and design, and retail store operations.
Independent jewelry stores are often family businesses, and many owners are now within a decade of handing the store to a son, a daughter, a long-tenured manager, or no one at all. The trades those successors need are learned through certification programs and apprenticeships that cost money many students may not have.
The Edge’s scholarship sponsorship reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting organizations and initiatives that help advance the jewelry industry and its next generation of professionals.
“One of the most important questions facing independent jewelers today is who will carry these businesses forward when the current generation is ready to step back,” said Josh Brenner, CEO of The Edge. “For a young person entering the industry, the cost of a gemology certification, bench program or other professional training can be a real barrier. These scholarships are a practical way for us to invest in the next generation of talent and help ensure independent jewelry businesses continue to thrive.”
Bing and Linihan were recognized before leadership from The Edge and members of the 24 Karat Club SEUS. Their scholarships will help support their continued education and professional development within the jewelry industry.
The Edge for Jewelers and the 24 Karat Club of the Southeastern United States have both supported the jewelry trade for decades. The scholarship sponsorship is part of The Edge’s continued investment in the independent jewelry industry and the people who will shape its future.
